We left Port Augusta this morning with light rain falling. This area is quite green but it didnt take long to become dry and barren. The land is very flat with a few mountain ranges in the distance. We went to a lookout to see Island Lagoon, a salt crusted dry lake.
We arrived in Woomera, 188km away and had lunch at the diner for Lorelle's birthday.
The town used to have 4000 people but now has 130. There are so many empty buildings. It is quite sad. The school catered for 700 students but now has only 7.
The museum in town was good with lots of old photos of the town in its heyday. They had a lot of sporting clubs and activities available. There were also old rockets and other related paraphernalia.
At least the sun has come out.
